Journal of Complementary Medicine

The independent peer-reviewed journal for healthcare professionals

Australia’s premier evidence-based clinical resource on natural medicine

Same high quality, new HIGHER readership

More than 18,000 healthcare professionals continue to receive the Journal of Complementary Medicine (JCM) every two months, making it Australia’s most read publication for the practitioner interested in complementary therapies. In addition, last year’s reader survey showed that more than half of these readers pass their copy on to at least one other colleague, boosting the readership to an extraordinary 44,083 health professionals!

Regularly received, valued and retained

Nearly all (97%) survey respondents confirmed they usually received their JCM, and 65% said they had read all of the previous year’s six issues. More than 90% of readers keep their JCM after reading it, proving that the vast majority value the journal as a handy clinical reference, adding enormous reach and longevity to your promotions.

Depth of readership

When asked about intensity of reading the JCM, almost half (42%) of respondents said they read ‘most of it’ and 24% said they read all of it. A quarter spent 1–2 hours perusing their copy of the JCM, another quarter spent 15–30 minutes and 32% spent between a half and a full hour. This compares very favourably with the medical ‘throw-away’ medical tabloids, academic journals and regular pharmacy trade publications.

New sections, features—by popular demand

In 2009 the JCM will continue its groundbreaking and highly regarded Diagnostics section on complementary pathology tests. Features have been developed around national health promotion campaigns and topical issues. In response to feedback from the 2008 reader survey and the industry, JCM will also feature a new controversies column, where common myths and debates about CM in practice are addressed.

Continuing professional education

The JCM is now endorsed by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners for QA&CPD Provider Accreditation. Added to its status as an education provider for the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia’s CPD&PI program and the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice & Management’s CPE program, it ensures GPs and pharmacists get real professional value from reading the JCM.
